Sometimes you have to speak differently to different people.
Does ignorance excuse racism? The unavoidable topic facing any modern day society is brought to life in an exciting new writing by Colin Goodwin.
Brimming with passion and excitement, Grey Days is a stylistic and moving piece of theatre that explores the insides of a modern multi-cultural relationship. Welcome to the world of Scot and Candis, two people who are forced to confront their inner demons, emotions, opinions, complications and desires in modern day London.
An affair, a diary, a misjudgment or loss of understanding; what happens when we force ourselves to change for the better? With unique stage language, Grey Days is where punchy dialogue and sensual poetry meet deceit and bare honesty.
Written this year, influenced by the current debates and issues surrounding race and identity, Grey Days deals with Scot, a white British male, and his ‘affair’ with Candis, a black American woman. As their true thoughts and feelings are unearthed, sometimes in suspect circumstances, the question of whether Scot is a racist becomes apparent. What we choose to reveal about ourselves is at the heart of Grey Days and determines the final state of this tragic love story. A mirror image of current multi-cultural London, this relationship deals with the issues of racism that don’t always have one simple answer.
World premiere in Edinburgh this year, and directed by Mel Hillyard, ‘Grey Days’ aims to provide exciting, topical and thought-provoking theatre.
